Club History and Background
Alton Trampoline Club was founded on 3rd November 1990. The club is run by its founder member, Sylvia Comber.
In Febuary 2006 The club was one of the first to become GymMark accredited. GymMark is British Gymnastics stamp of quality assurance for gymnastics clubs. for more details on GymMark click here
Over the years, the club has striven to provide a high quality level of coaching for all members.
Alton Trampoline Club is open to beginners, more experienced and competitive trampolinists aged 4 years upwards.
Alton Trampoline Club is a competitive club, but the emphasis is on encouraging rather than pressurising our members to compete. We strongly believe that all members irrespective of ability have something to offer.
Members are encouraged to develop at their own pace and to the best of their ability. Not everyone can be a world champion, but everyone can work towards their own personal goals, whether it is fitness, British Gymnastics Award Schemes or local/regional/national competitions. The only thing which is compulsory is having fun.
This flexible and laid-back approach has produced several National Grade Performers and equally importantly, has seen several members qualify as coaches and judges in their own right and go on to pass their knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation. It is this family atmosphere which gives the club its unique character.

Training Sessions
At each session members are divided into groups of similar age and ability. The aim is that there will be a maximum of five children to one trampoline bed with one coach, although it will not necessarily be the same coach every week. The purpose of the session is to develop new moves in line with the BG recognised progressions, perfect moves which have already been mastered and link skills to form routines. The less-experienced members will broadly follow the BG Trampoline Awards from Badge 6 onwards. As we approach competitions, we focus more on perfecting the execution of the routines which the competitors will be performing e.g. straight legs, straight arms.
It is appreciated that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. A move which one child finds easy to master may prove difficult for another and it is with this mind that we work with each member as an individual in developing their own particular talents to the best of their ability.
We currently have twelve coaches and nine judges within the club all of whom hold British Gymnastics qualifications and all work on a voluntary basis.
We have one coach per trampoline and it is our aim to enhance safety on and around the trampoline.
At the end of each session, each member records in their personal training log what they have been working on during the session and at what stage they are at in the development of that move. The purpose of the training log is to provide a record of their progress and to enable any of the coaches to continue what has been learned in previous sessions in the safest possible manner.
